Top Nail Polish Trends

Nail polish helps you feel confident and well put together. In fact, some consider it an essential accessory that instantly updates your look. Nail colors and designs that are trending for 2020 span from a classic French manicure to metallics, mix-and-matched colors and patterns, and pastel polishes that make a splash in warmer months. Here are some hot nail polish trends for 2020:

1. Metallics
Metallics not only make your nails look glamorous but also healthier since they are so shiny. Metallic nail polish neutrals and solid hues are a good choice, with a topcoat of metallic on them, your nails will be fabulous. You can also purchase shimmering polishes that add dazzle to your everyday day and night outfits.

2. Matte polish
Matte nail polish looks sophisticated and super cute. If you are tired of having the same shiny nails as everyone else, take your nails to the next level with matte polish. Create looks that you have not tried and polish on a somewhat dull or flat surface.

3. Pastels
If you want to lighten up your nails or just want to look subtle and sweet, pastel nail polish is your answer. Paint on flower inspired shades like rose and lilac to shades of tangerine or peach. Pastel nail colors aren’t predictable or boring; they are awe-inspiring.

4. Nude nail polish
Nude shades look stunning on everyone, no matter what your skin color is. Nude nail polish will always be in style because nudes can be dressed up or down. They elongate hands for an elegant look. Surprisingly enough, nude polish comes in a range of shades and tones. Try a blend of cream and beige with a touch of pink. Classic nude colors in terracotta and warm undertones complement up your skin, and sandy hues highlight medium to darker-toned skin.

5. Ombre tones
The ombre look uses two or three nail polish colors, but ombre is a bit challenging to do. Choose colors that are similar in brightness and tone. Try pink and orange or teal and blue. Use the sponged style to color and blend your nail polish. You can also try using a brushed blend; just be careful not to over color one color over another. Apply your base coat and then apply a thin coat of the light nail polish. Paint parallel stripes of each of the colors directly onto the makeup sponge and tap the sponge onto your nail. Move the sponge slightly to blur the colored areas. You want the color to blur into one another rather than have distinct lines where the colors stop and start.

6. Gel nail polish
If you have a healthy nail bed and nails, gel nail polishes are great. They are long-lasting nail colors and usually have a brilliant shine. Gel nail polishes have a different formulation from regular nail color. The color cures under artificial light dries fast and lasts much longer. The gel ingredient is photo-reactive, so when it is applied, you need to cure it under a LED nail lamp. Use a gel topcoat to protect your nails and provide them with the strength to do your daily cores without peeling, chipping, or scratching.
